Listen to “Wintering” on MySpace.

The winter of the Northwestern United States is mild in climate, but not in temperament. Sure, there aren’t many gales of windblown natural anger. Nor are there fierce bouts of time spent coated in snow–rarely does snow stick for long enough to shovel it. But there is grey. Grey summarizes the Northwest “Wintering” (from the album If You Come to Greet Me) like no other word. And grey will get you in the end. Laura Gibson knows it. And now so do you.
Listen to “Static for Blood” on MySpace.

If you have static for blood, electricity for eyes, and ether for brains, you might be able to write a song like this. If not, you’ll have to be as good as Sleepy Eyes of Death. Is “Static for Blood” (from the album Street Lights for a Ribcage) worth waiting for each build? Yes. Do it. Wait for it. Wait for it. Wait for it…. Really. Turn it up loud. Wait. Close your eyes. Wait. Sense your blood. Stop waiting. You’re there.
Listen to Shogu Tokumaru’s “Parachute” on MySpace or watch the video on YouTube.

Shugo Tokumaru gives you “Parachute” (from the album Exit). This doesn’t mean you’ll stop falling, but you certainly won’t fall to your death. In time, you’ll begin to see the fall for what it is: a beautiful and rare view of the planet. Yes. That’s where you live. Enjoy it while you can.
Listen to “The Missing Boat” on MySpace.

PlanB explores something heady with “The Missing Boat”. Maybe the boat is gone. Maybe you miss the boat. Maybe you missed the boat. Maybe the boat misses you. Maybe you boat the missing. Maybe missing boat the. Or, it could be that the missing boat, as the title of the song suggests (from the album I’m the Captain, Where We Going?).
Listen to “Papa Don’t Worry” on MySpace.

Forget about preaching; don’t worry, papa. Sydney Wayser has a way of using a voice and a decent breakdown to break down breakdowns of hearts and worries and dreams gone awry. Broken? Not “Papa Don’t Worry” (from the album Silent Parade). Let it soothe you, unbreak you. At least for a while. You can always worry later.
Watch a video of Jon Brion doing Tom Waits doing Radiohead here.

From my favorite movie soundtrack composer, Jon Brion exhibits the many layers of his insanity by becoming Tom Waits doing the popular Radiohead song, “Creep”. This is a gem. It’s one of the most interesting musical moments of the last five years, and I’m glad someone caught it on video. Enjoy, and be sure to laugh in amazement.
Listen to a clip of “Regarding Light” on MySpace.

This song is exactly how I feel in the morning. Sometimes. Mornings are all different, and so is this song, each time you listen to it. Also: Gutpuppet uses some killer-fun harmonics in the song. That’s reason enought to listen to it.
Listen to “Suzy Rose” on MySpace.

Remember the piano? It’s a beautiful instrument. Pop Conspiracy knows this. Pop Conspiracy also knows that 82 per cent of you will listen to this song and smile. 71 per cent of those 82 per cent will listen to it again immediately. 2 per cent of that 71 per cent will join a convent that operates a secret underground movement to recreate this recording note for note, as perfectly as possible, in order to save the world from undivine forces. Yes. Divinity. In pop music, it is rare. In Pop Conspiracy it is there.
