Listen to “Everything is Okay” on MySpace.

The Everybodyfields‘ “Everything is Okay” mixes two parts dialogue, one-two-three cups of driving distance, and a secret ingredient that somehow releases muscle tension. And while this song is not a relaxative, it does aptly summarize the steps between being twisted up inside and letting all that go. In the middle, there is pain.
Listen to “Far and Wide” on MySpace.

Not only is “Far and Wide” a beautiful song, but the way it was recorded was beautiful. I love being able to experience the entire room at the moment this song was recorded, just from the timber of the echoes and the din of the small crowd. It’s lovely. The Roadside Graves might have been at their best just then. You’ll never know, unless you catch a show some time.

Watch a video of The Rainieros doing “Anarchy in the U.K.” on YouTube.
The Rainieros pick on Sex Pistols by covering “Anarchy in the U.K.” And bye “pick on”, I mean that this is a classic example of a song taking on new meaning when placed into an entirely different genre. The fact that it’s a live recording doesn’t hurt one bit, either….
Listen to “Wicked Jokes” on MySpace.

Jimmy Peters, pedal steel guitarist for the Rainieros, needs no accompaniment to place you in a small lonely town, in a small, lonely, desperate situation, with “Wicked Jokes”. Bathe yourself in this for three weeks. After that, you won’t know where you are anymore, and you won’t know how to escape, either. In fact, you won’t even be aware that there is an escape.
Listen to “Certainly Tonight” on MySpace.

Yes, when country’s good it’s good. Widower joins the ranks of…well, a few people…who are out to prove it’s true. On “Certainly Tonight”, Widower adds just a touch more grit to the voice that carries this song out into Wail-But-Good Land. You’ll see. Certainly tonight, you will.
Listen to “You’re Lookin’ Tired”.

You won’t find a lot of flash and trickery in the music of Sera Cahoone. It is what it is and that’s how she tells it. You’re lookin’ dragged out and dog-dead. You might want to listen to what she has to say. “You’re Lookin’ Tired” (from the album Sera Cahoone) is the definition of authentic assessment.
Listen to “If You Knew” here.

If you knew what Neko Case knows, you wouldn’t mess around with that spoiled brat of a woman that is using you. And all the while, Ms. Case’s heart is breakin’ while you blindly believe that this tramp is into you. I don’t know how you can be so stupid, but…sadly, this is common. And Neko Case knows it. “If You Knew” (from the album The Tigers Have Spoken) is the definition of knowing that you’ll have to be there to pick up the pieces after a friend’s bad relationship (and willingly doing so).
